In conclusion of my 2016 Japan trip I stayed overnight in Osaka (again, to make the long train journey from Kyushu to Tokyo more pleasant and meaningful), and from there briefly visited Kyoto on a day trip.
I didn’t have much time and wanted to make it as leisurely as possible, so I only went to a couple of temples I haven’t been to before: Nison-in and Adashino Nenbutsuji. They are both located in Sagano district, north of Arashiyama.
The neighborhood is very pleasant there, quiet, with far less tourists then elsewhere in popular areas. The fall season hasn’t really started yet, but the maple trees already showed some sparks of bright red color. This contrast of green and red is beautiful in its own right.

There are much more temples to see in Sagano. Hopefully another time.
