Mt Bizan, one of the symbols of Tokushima city and Tokushima prefecture, stands only 290 meters tall and when you look at it, you don’t see anything impressive (it’s said to resemble an eyebrow from every direction, whatever that means). It’s when you’re on top of Mt Bizan that you can see something truly spectacular: one of the best panoramic city views in Japan. There isn’t any shops or restaurants on top, as some visitors complain, but why do you even need them with views like that. You can get there by cable car departing from Awa Odori Kaikan (as I did in 2006), or by regular car, as I did this time, in 2018, on the second day of my Shikoku-henro road trip.
