I like Deception Pass state park because it’s beautiful and relatively close – only 1.5 hour drive from where I live. I always take visiting relatives there and go sometimes alone, just to enjoy the majestic views.
One of my favorite spots is Rosario Head. I usually park at Bowman Bay and then take the trail along the shore to stretch my legs after a long drive. The Bowman Bay itself is a nice place to just sit on the beach and breathe some fresh air. There are a couple of other trails from there, in the opposite direction (towards the Deception Pass Bridge). This time I arrived a little bit early for sunset, so I decided to check out the Lotte Bay trail for the first time. It’s not long, but some parts of it are steep and kind of scary, with the path running high up along some very steep cliffs. The views are awesome, though. Next time I’ll take my camera with me.
This time I caught the sunset at Bowman Bay. The sun didn’t set right into the water, but still it was beautiful.
