Due to its remote, isolated location Whale Island Resort is a perfect place for those who want to get away from it all and just chill. It takes some effort to get to: 2 hours by car + 20 minutes by boat from Nha Trang, so it’s not suited for a 1 night stay – you really have to book for a few days. There’s nothing else on the island but the resort, and the resort itself is rather low key, offering all the necessities for basic comfort, but it’s not a fancy place by any means. I was looking for a place like this for my last few days in Vietnam – a place where I could comfortably relax after heavy sightseeing with as few people around as possible, and I got exactly what I wanted here.
I arranged for a pick up from Nha Trang’s train station, where I got from Da Nang on a night train. The ride from the city to the boat pier was smooth and uneventful – at the pier we had to wait a while for the boat to pick us, so I snapped a few pictures.

Staying on Whale Island was a perfect conclusion to my trip. After that I got to Ho Chi Min by plane from Nha Trang, just to spend one night before my flight back home. So I didn’t have time to see anything in Ho Chi Min, but maybe I’ll be back someday again.
